Job DescriptionJOB SUMMARYThe Conference Planner position is
responsible for supporting the day-to-day planning, operations, and
year-round logistical coordination for SLRF, AUSA, SDLIF, TGOSC
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Assists in managing staff participation in all conference
aspects.
- Oversees preparation of on-site conference program book and
content preparation of conference proceedings book and
content.
- Manages exhibit program, including show layout, decorator
contact, registration, and post-evaluation
- Oversees pre-con logistics (signs, plaques, badges,
registration packet materials, etc.).
- Designs & tabulates conference evaluation forms
- Manages post-conference activities
- Assists in all other conference areas as necessary
- Manages financial and managerial administration in develop and
monitor conference budget
- Makes bookings for catering, accommodations, and
transportation
- Coordinates meeting logistics for all Board, leadership, and
committee meetings
- Coordinates speaker selections and attendee invitation
list
- Works with the leaders of the group sponsoring the gathering,
conference coordinators come up with a theme for the event and plan
activities.
- Supports the planning and execution of all aspects of
conference logistics (meeting space, catering, transportation,
special events, parking, etc.)
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Must be able to travel 10-25% EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Four year degree (BA or BS) from an accredited university or
college
- 5 Years of experience working with Army Training
- Experience in a field related to Army civilian or military
training, doctrine, or resource management
- HQDA staff experience preferred
- Secret clearance KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Proficiency in MS Office Applications
- Working knowledge of Army Training and PPBE
- Must have a demonstrated interest in customer service and
conference and event management
- Ability to work independently with little supervision, handling
multiple deadlines and projects
- Skills in planning, organizing, problem-solving, managing
multiple tasks and attention to detail
- Ability to perform basic mathematical computations
- Working knowledge of business English, spelling, grammar, and
punctuation
- Working knowledge of modern office practices, procedures,
systems and equipment.
- Ability to understand and interpret Army policies and
procedures
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in
writing
- Ability to maintain poise and courtesy under pressure; to
handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion and
tact
- Ability to organize and execute multiple assignments under
specific time constraints with general instructions
- Ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards
