We are a privately-owned, correctional healthcare provider that offers compassionate, comprehensive medical and mental health care to the underserved populations of our communities.We are hiring for the following:Position: Registered NurseLocation: Arlington County Detention CenterPay Rate: $48/hrResponsibilities:Lead and coordinate shift activities of facility nursing and support staffEnsure adherence to federal, state, and local regulations and guidelines, MEDIKO and facility policies, and accepted nursing protocols and proceduresCoordinate services with other patient care units/areas and provide nursing services and patient care as appropriateMonitor all off-site referrals and provide case management servicesPrepare, monitor and coordinate the daily patient care activities of the unit to ensure all physician orders are implemented and all patient encounters are documentedAssess physical, psychological and social dimensions of patients within the health care units and, as necessary, in the housing unitsApply knowledge of illnesses, injuries and diseases using available resources in obtaining a health history and in the assessment processParticipate in the screening, evaluation, assessment and care of the patients in intake screening, sick call, clinics and including segregation unitsProvide a written assessment of patient on admission, during confinement and on discharge, as requestedProvide medical treatment as per licensing authorization and state and federal regulationsProvide prescribed treatment, to include medication, to patients, as medically required and as prescribed through Physician or Physician ExtenderSummarize assessment data and make a triage decision which is documented and communicated to other patient care providersPlan individual treatment programs in accordance with treatment protocols and processes, as established by MEDIKO and the Medical DirectorFollow established referral process to appropriate health care providers, as necessaryAdminister medications, including IV therapy, in accordance with Physician or Physician Extender ordersProvide various areas of medical care, as necessary or assigned, to include, but not be exclusive of intake/receiving screening, medical history, physicals, medical distribution and infirmary coverageAssist Physician and/or Physician Extender during examination and treatment; prepare equipment for such examination, as necessaryDocument medical history and treatment of patients in accordance with standard medical record procedures; document nursing encounters utilizing the Problem Oriented Medical Records (POMR) form of chartingAssist the Physician in medical or minor surgical procedures, as necessary and/or requestedSupervise and coordinate the work of Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurses to ensure an efficient working environmentImplement and monitor nutrition and therapeutic diet plan, as ordered by the Physician or Physician Extender using established therapeutic diet plan referral processFacilitate and participate in patient educational health programsParticipate in continuing education and in-service training to maintain professional standards, capabilities and proficienciesParticipate in the orientation and training of new employeesComply with all HIPAA rules and regulations regarding privacy of patient medical informationParticipate in cost containment goals, standards, and activitiesCoordinate multiple medical services for diagnosis and treatment of patients, as directed by the PhysicianAttend facility and corporate meetings, as required or requestedUphold all rules and regulations governing patient confidentialityMaintain working knowledge of emergency procedures in the event of emergency or crisis situations and assist as procedures warrantAdhere to security standards for medications, supplies and equipmentEnsure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practicesParticipate in CQI activities, if requestedFollow time record procedures, as established by MEDIKO and the correctional facilityComply with Infection Control policies and proceduresOversee quality assurance and infection control activities and compliance to operational standardsParticipate in program development and implementation of operating policy and procedureCommunicate clearly, effectively and constructively with all MEDIKO staff and all correctional facility contacts including detention staff and patientsAssist other team members with their work, as necessaryPromote quality assurance standards through thoroughness and completeness of tasksDevelop and maintain professional relationships with patients, visitors, medical personnel and corrections staffRespect dignity and confidentiality of patientPromote good working relationships among staff and between other disciplines and departmentsProvide leadership to other staff, as warrantedPromote excellence in patient care by challenging and, as necessary, correcting errors of peers to ensure the safety and well-being of the patient; identify existing and potential problems and take effective actionDevelop and maintain an awareness of needed improvements in patient care, procedures, equipment and supplies and make recommendations to supervisorsAssist the presentation of in-service education as requestedParticipate in nursing activities in corrections which promote the growth and development of nursing and/or patient careApproach changes in a positive manner, motivate staff to work as a team, accept constructive criticism and learn from itPotentially have to supervise and delegate to Unlicensed Assisted Personnel such as CMA, RMA, Med Tech, or Certified Med Aide, per the State Board of Nursing and their scop of practice and any state requirements, where the RN and UAP are working together.Perform other duties as assignedQualificationsGraduate from an accredited registered nursing program;
