LMI is seeking a Data Scientist. The position requires providing
support to the Office of Strategic Intelligence and Analysis
(OSI&A) Technology Watch and Forecasting (TW&F) branch in
the areas of global technology research and development. This
position requires an active secret clearance, TS/SCI preferred.
-This position is open to remote/hybrid applicants. Please note
that monthly or quarterly meetings may be required in the DC area-
Responsibilities The Data Scientist will provide reach-back
data/scientific support that offers the Government the ability to
ensure that its data subscriptions are correctly ingested, comply
with a common data dictionary format, and can identify, report on,
and recommend options to troubleshoot potential issues in either a
server-based or cloud-based environment. OSI&A engages in
routine technology scouting of data analytic platforms, and the
Data Scientist can support the OSI&A technology scout in
evaluating the different platforms that OSI&A may consider for
future investment. Tasks include, but are not limited to: *
Attending meetings with OSI&A contractors or external vendors
to provide a technical evaluation of data analytic platform
capabilities to the Government. * Offering the Government an
unbiased understanding of data analytics to ensure the OSI&A
has an objective perspective when considering future platforms to
invest in. * Providing the Government an advisory role when the
Government reviews third-party-delivered Horizon Scanning results.
* Participating in user groups and provides unbiased feedback
pertaining to OSI&A data analytic tools. Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: * A bachelor''s degree from an accredited
college or university. A degree in science, technology,
engineering, or mathematics (STEM) is preferred. * Active secret
clearance is required. 10 years of relevant experience. * Excellent
communication skills, interpersonal skills, briefings, and meeting
moderation; and, willingness/desire to work across a broad range of
technical and intelligence areas. * Proficiency in technical
research, an in-depth knowledge of technical resources, and writing
technically detailed assessments. * Ability to analyze statistical
information and other technical data. * Ability to clearly
communicate technical subjects and analytic results to
non-expert/non-technical peers and leadership. * Experience or
education in advanced machine learning techniques in bibliometric
analysis and natural language processing. * Ability to work
independently with both junior and senior staff in a distributed
environment while maintaining a strong commitment to deliverable
schedules. DESIRED SKILLS: * A TS clearance with SCI eligibility is
preferred. * Previous DoD experience. * Programming experience -
Python preferred. * Experience in research and application of
emerging and disruptive technologies. LI-SH1
