The Event Assistant (EA) is supervised by the Event Operations
Supervisor and the Manager of the Executive Briefing Center (EBC).
The Event Assistant position will assist the Event Operations
Supervisor with the execution of events held at the Executive
Briefing Center in Arlington, VA, and work as part of a team to
provide onsite support services that contribute to the overall
experience of clientele. The Event Assistant work will include
day/evening/weekend shifts with occasional staff meetings and
trainings. Hours may increase or decrease based on seasonal needs.
Due to the nature of this position, the Event Assistant will be
required to bend, stand for at least 6 hours, push, pull, lift,
carry and move items up to 50lbs or more. The work schedule will
vary and has the potential to include consistent evening and
weekend work depending on the needs of the events of the
center.
Required Qualifications
Strong customer service skills. Knowledge of use and operation of
standard office equipment and computer software applications
including Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point. Must be a team
player. Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
Flexibility and the ability to quickly and smoothly handle
unanticipated changes and needs. Strong attention to detail and the
ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines. Ability to lift
or push up to 50lbs. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential
situations as well as demonstrate poise, tact and diplomacy.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous related experience in a hotel and/or conference center.-
Experience with audio/visual equipment such as laptops, projectors
and microphones. Working knowledge of supporting events and using
online meeting platforms.

Additional Information
This position is an onsite position and is located at the Virginia
Tech Research Center in Arlington, Virginia.
The successful candidate will be required to have a criminal
conviction check.
