Responsibilities As a Support Services Specialist you will be
responsible for the following duties: Serve as a Support Services
Specialist assigned to the Logistics Branch, Support Division, of
the Task Support Office. Participate in the development of
transportation and logistical support plans; executing these plans
during emergency preparedness exercises. Manage warehouse
operations; procure supplies and equipment; manage contract
operations; oversee program management, training, and operations of
the organization's Material Handling Equipment (MHE). Assist with
other program functions of planning, cost, schedule, operations,
and performance. Conducts and administers transportation and
logistical support in support of national security missions during
contingency situations. Requirements Conditions of Employment
Qualifications To qualify for a Support Services Specialist your
resume and supporting documentation must support: Specialized
Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you
with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties
of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To
qualify at the GS-12 level, applicants must possess one year of
specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or equivalent
under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or
private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements
including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only),
time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any
other regulatory requirements by the cutoff/ closing date of the
announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes:
Developing transportation and logistical support plans in support
of National Security missions. Supporting emergency preparedness
exercises. Managing operations for a warehouse. Experience refers
to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done
through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps)
and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic;
religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work
helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can
provide valuable training and experience that translates directly
to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying
experience, including volunteer experience. Physical Demands: The
work requires regular and recurring physical exertion such as long
periods of standing, walking over rough or uneven surfaces,
recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching and
recurring lifting of moderately heavy items (50 pounds or less).
Incumbent must work effectively under pressure of deadline and
high-level interest, and must work cooperatively with others. Work
may also involve physical exertion as in the case of observing or
participating in field operations. Incumbent is expected to become
and maintain OSHA forklift certification and learn or possess
forklift operator competency. Work Environment: Work is normally
performed in a warehouse setting; however, work may involve long
periods of standing, bending or stooping to study or participate in
work operations in industrial, storage, field, or comparable work
areas. Additionally, some work will be performed in an office
setting and at deployed sites. Work at some sites will require
hardhats, safety shoes, or similar protections when exposed to
moderate risks or discomfo1is which require special safety
precautions such as wearing protective clothing or gear such as
boots, goggles, gloves, or shields. Incumbent must be able to
travel, sometimes on short notice and occasionally for extended
periods of time, as required to perform duties of the position.
Education Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of
specialized experience for this grade level. Additional Information
