Description Associate Producer, Foreign Affairs - PBS NewsHour Full-time, Regular Reports to: Senior Producer, Foreign Affairs ABOUT THE ROLE As our Associate Producer, Foreign Affairs in PBS NewsHour's Foreign Affairs unit, you will be responsible for assisting with studio and field production, setting up stories, and assisting the beat with other requests as necessary. YOUR FIRST 90 DAYS You'll get to know your new colleagues on the foreign affairs beat, and get used to the rhythms of a high tempo unit in a constantly changing world. You'll also get a feel for the program as a whole, and how in-depth coverage of foreign affairs fits into the overall presentation of PBS NewsHour. WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE You will understand how we work and why, and have solid ideas to contribute and help produce. You'll know our group of contributors overseas, and how to assist their reporting. And you'll feel at home working within a fast-paced, daily news program, while also having the chance to generate and work on longer-form stories for the NewsHour. WHAT YOU'LL BRING

  • Some expertise, knowledge and sources around a variety of topic areas impacting foreign affairs.
  • Demonstrated ability to create and manage fresh, compelling news and feature content for broadcast and/or online.
  • Superior writing skills, under deadline pressure, for both short turn-around news items and longer-term feature content.
  • Experience using social media and an interest in using new social media tools for reporting and storytelling. Proof of full dosage of a COVID-19 vaccination is required for all positions that will be working onsite, or may reasonably or occasionally be called to work onsite. WHAT WE OFFER
