As a Manager III, Systems Engineering (Level 6) in S3, you get to deliver these capabilities and delight our customers through teams of talented engineers and leaders.

S3 is looking for a Systems Engineering Manager to lead a team to deliver S3's capabilities to the U.S. Intelligence Community and Defense agencies. We build, operate, and work with our agency customers to meet their mission needs leveraging the latest cloud technologies. Engineers on this diverse team enjoy diving deep into root causes of technical issues, automating manual tasks, and continually raising the bar to improve the customer experience.

This position requires that the candidate selected be a US Citizen and must currently possess and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance. The position further requires that, after start, the selected candidate obtain and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph and satisfy other security related requirements.

Arlington, VA: This role will sit in our new headquarters in Northern Virginia, where Amazon will invest $2.5 billion dollars, occupy 4 million square feet of energy efficient office space, and create at least 25,000 new full-time jobs.   • BA/BS degree in Computer Science or related field, or relevant work experience
  • 5+ years of relevant hands-on systems admin and administrative experience in networking, storage systems, Linux operating systems and infrastructure as code
  • 5+ years of experience as a Systems Engineering and Operations leader/people manager of SREs, Linux system administrators, and/or DevOps focused teams
  • Current, active US Government Security Clearance of Top Secret or above
  • Demonstrated success building and leading teams
  • Systems engineering fundamentals (networking, storage, Linux operating systems)
  • Mentoring/training systems engineers
  • Communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Deployment and usage of monitoring systems
  • Exposure with distributed systems at scale
  • Experience with Agile engineering practices (Kanban, continuous delivery, etc.)
