Sequoia Forest Trail Team Expected Dates May 23, 2021 to September 11, 2021 Site Sequoia National Forest Position ID PO-00731782 This SCA Corps Team will work alongside Forest Service trail specialists to maintain trails in several designated wilderness areas on the Sequoia National Forest. The team will move around to different locations during their time in the wilderness. They will spike camp in the wilderness and work 10 days on and 4 days off. Team members will be given wilderness first aid and cross-cut saw certification. Field-life is rugged, and while on work hitches, members should expect to live without electricity, running water, and cell phone reception; additionally, while on hitch, this program is alcohol and substance free.? Training Description (Tentative)Please note- this is a tentative training schedule. A full overview and description of training will be issued two weeks prior to the start of training. Additionally, members may receive additional training opportunities depending on project needs. Crew Housing? This team will spend 10 days in the backcountry, and then come out for four days off. The USFS will provide a campsite at an Administrative site on the forest. Members will be expected to work together to ensure that all SCA equipment, vehicles, trailer, and tools are properly maintained and ready for use in the field. Personal vehicles are not recommended for this project. Crew members will have access to an SCA vehicle for transportation to and from work projects. ? Member ResponsibilitiesEnsure project, crew community, basecamp, vehicles, and general safety standards are upheld; full engagement is expected in all work projects and community activities Interfacing with general public and partner organizations in a manner that re?ects positively upon the crew, organization, and agency Take on role of Hitch Leader for at least one hitch, serving as a professional liaison with SCA Project Leaders, handling the logistics of a project, meal planning, delegating responsibilities, developing emergency response plans, and completing all necessary?paperwork. Recording work totals and creating reports for submission to agency partners; this will include GPS field data collection and post-processing.
