Education and Outreach Intern Expected Dates May 30, 2021 to July 31, 2021 Site Gateway Arch National Park Position ID PO-00731810 Gateway Arch National Park has an opportunity for two SCA interns to assist with presenting activity-based summer education and family programming at the Gateway Arch National Park. Interns will work with interpretative rangers and education specialists who will provide them with valuable training. Interns will be responsible for facilitating programs that are relevant and enjoyable to our student population. These will include: Junior Ranger programs, interpretive summer camp programming including resource stewardship, outreach community programs, and outdoor, experiential, and environmental education. The long-term goals of the project are to:1) introduce youth to education related jobs and, for some, mentor them in that direction,2) allow youth to actively participate in developing education programs that engage children and families,3) provide an opportunity to gain experience in partnership, outreach, and collaboration, and4) assist in fostering a sense of stewardship of the park and its resources.This position provides:- $125 weekly Living Allowance- $650 one-time round-trip Travel Allowance- $500 Housing Allowance- $20 weekly commuting allowance (for transit pass)This position is an AmeriCorps program and acceptance of AmeriCorps membership is required. The AmeriCorps Education Award received upon successful completion of this position is $1311.11All allowances subject to applicable federal, state, and local taxes.It is SCAs policy that all AmeriCorps-required background checks must return cleared results prior to the positions start; this includes being fingerprinted for the FBI check. Otherwise, the AmeriCorps award will be removed or the positions start date will be delayed due to non-compliance. It is a large urban area with public transportation nearby. + Training Provided Interns will take part in training provided to park staff. They will also have access to on-line interpretation training. Park staff will provide one-on-one training as needed. + Educational/Recreational Opportunities St. Louis is known for its many cultural and recreational activities. Many are free or low cost. Forest Park is nearby and is home to the St. Louis Zoo, History Museum, and Science Center (all with free admission.) + Handicap Accessible?
