Community Crew Coordinator Expected Dates May 31, 2021 to August 29, 2021 Site Klawock Cooperative Association Position ID PO-00731622 SCA is seeking a Community Crew Coordinator who will work with Klawock Cooperative Association and the Prince of Wales Ranger District on Prince of Wales Island in Southeast Alaska. This position will entail working with local youth on trail and other service projects. On some trips, you will be asked to lead overnight camping/service trips. The expectation is that during normal work weeks local participants will return home to their own housing at night. Klawock Cooperative Association is a Tribe on Prince of Wales Island (POW), an island in the Southeast Alaska Archipelago. POW is the fourth-largest island in the United States and the total population is less than 6,000 people. Mountain peaks, waterways, and shorelines abound. To get to POW, you must take a ferry or small plane. Job Duties Include: + + Coordinator of 2-4 youth/young adult participants e nsuring rules and regulations are followed, and maintaining safety standards and enforcing the use of personal protective equipment. + The coordinator will help plan projects and lead participants in the implementation of on-the-ground work, aligned with KCA and Forest Service staff direction. + This position will coordinate the Alaskan Youth Stewards POW program for ten weeks with two week of orientation/training before the scheduled YCC/TRAYLS program and one week after the program to document accomplishments in a final report. The work week will be 5 days, 8 hrs per day, and will include evening and weekend work. Conditions require working outside in wet, cool, rainy weather and long periods of standing each day.
