Integrated Ecological Restoration Intern Expected Dates June 1, 2021 to November 15, 2021 Site Tonto National Monument Position ID PO-00731160 + Project Goals The purpose of this agreement is to provide: training and education opportunities for young adults through collaborative participation in resource management at Tonto National Monument. The SCA intern will assist NPS personnel with resource management and interpretation projects. Unless otherwise specified herein, the terms and conditions as stated in the Cooperative Agreement will apply to this Task Agreement. + Project Objectives This task agreement provides for one SCA intern. The intern will assist NPS staff in park operations and project work conducted at Tonto National Monument. The incumbent will work closely work with National Park Service professionals to assist with various operational and project objectives. The SCA intern will assist park staff with the Post Woodbury Fire Ecological Management Project. The intern will tend the park green house, establish and tend the Visitor Center garden, collect and sort back country game camera data, assist in monitoring back country archeological sites, create monthly educational wildlife posters and social media posts, and greet and orient visitors to the national monument by providing informal interpretation. + Location Description The intern will work at Tonto National Monument. This is a remote landscape east of Phoenix in the Sonoran Desert. It contains many archeological sites, including 700 year old cliff dwellings. There is a visitor center and other park facilities on site and the intern will work as a part of the parks team that includes 10 to 15 other people. + Training Provided The will participate in safety training, including first aid and CPR. They will also have access to many trainings on online through the Department of Interior. + Educational/Recreational Opportunities The intern will learn from experts in archeology and resource management. They will gain experience in working with park visitors. There are many recreational opportunities close by, including access a major lake and wilderness areas. + Handicap Accessible? Housing or Stipend Provided? Yes This is shared housing. There intern will have their own bedroom but share a kitchen and and living area. The housing provides a full finished space, including full sized bed, laundry, and WIFI Indoor/Outdoor Indoor US Citizenship Not Required
