Description:Aerotek Engineering is seeking a Jr Systems Engineer with a background in safety to support an FAA contractor located in Arlingotn, VA. This person will be supporting a task order on the NAVTAC II contract. The main purpose of this job is to ensure that the GPS and Navigation Systems that make up the NAS (National Air System) are safe and compliant with FAA guidelines and safety standards. The task order this is supporting is called WAAS - Wide Area Augmentation Systems. This is the largest Task Order on NAVTAC II and has about 50 people on the team. The systems that this work supports is used by everything from commercial airlines to agricultural aircraft to the GPS systems in dog collars. The systems is accurate to two meters. As the systems safety engineer you will:-Review documents from OEM and make sure the actual systems align FAA requirements -Perform calculations to make sure the systems are compliant with FAA safety guidelines-Evaluate and recommend processes for configuration management, safety, reliability, maintainability, integrity and other system engineering disciplines -Conduct studies and analysis for navigation servicesJob Description:Applies software, hardware, and standards knowledge in the analysis, specification, development, integration, and acquisition of systems for navigation services. Ensures these systems are compliant with FAA standards. Evaluates and recommends process for configuration management, safety, reliability, maintainability, integrity and other system engineering disciplines to improve navigation services. Conducts studies and analysis for navigation services and provides data, information, databases and other products. Support the development and maintenance and improvement of system engineering in the Navigation Services Directorate. Evaluate technical and operational requirements for systems and services in the NAS. This individual plans, schedules, conducts or coordinates detailed phases of the systems engineering principles and processes or scientific work in a project or performs work which involves conventional engineering or scientific practice.
