The Database Administrator is responsible for maintaining,
updating, and managing SSA websites, ensuring the reliability,
integrity, and security of all web-based data. This role also leads
the execution of Optional Task 7—consolidating two existing SSA
websites into a unified, accessible, and streamlined platform. The
Database Administrator collaborates closely with IT, web
development, and content management teams, applying best practices
for database optimization, website performance, and federal
compliance throughout all maintenance and project phases. Job
Responsibilities and Duties: • Administer, monitor, and update all
databases supporting SSA program websites, ensuring data integrity,
security, and availability. • Perform regular website maintenance
tasks, including updates, bug fixes, performance monitoring, and
troubleshooting. • Lead technical planning and implementation for
consolidating two SSA websites into a single, unified site
(Optional Task 7). • Develop and execute migration strategies to
ensure seamless content, database, and functionality integration,
minimizing service disruptions. • Design and implement robust
database backup, restore, and disaster recovery procedures. •
Coordinate with stakeholders to align migration and website
management with operational goals, SSA standards, and user needs. •
Ensure websites and databases comply with SSA, FISMA, Privacy Act,
and Section 508 accessibility requirements. • Analyze database and
website performance, optimize queries, and implement system
enhancements as needed. • Prepare and maintain documentation for
all database, website management, and migration activities. •
Provide technical expertise to program managers, IT staff, and
content specialists on all aspects of website/database management
and consolidation. Requirements: • Bachelor's degree with 5–7 years
of relevant experience in database administration, website
management, or a related field. • Proven experience maintaining and
optimizing databases supporting high-availability websites. •
Demonstrated expertise leading or participating in website/database
migration or consolidation projects. • In-depth knowledge of
database management systems (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL) and
related scripting. • Strong understanding of web-based application
architectures, content management systems, and integration
practices. • Experience in database security, backup, recovery, and
disaster recovery planning. • Excellent analytical,
troubleshooting, and organizational skills. • Working familiarity
with FISMA, Privacy Act, Section 508, and SSA compliance standards.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills for
documentation and stakeholder coordination. • Ability to
collaborate across teams, manage multiple priorities, and meet
project deadlines. Clearance requirements: Must be a US Citizen and
able to obtain and maintain a SSA Public Trust clearance If you are
