We love creating the tools, application frameworks, and services that empower the organization to build and deploy modern, data-driven applications all over the world. We partner closely with market-facing engineering teams to help them take maximum advantage of this technology platform and evolve it to meet their needs and the needs of their customers.We are looking for a Software Engineering Manager to lead our Core Services team, designing, building and running the services that make up the foundational capabilities of our technology platform. These foundational capabilities solve cross cutting concerns within the platform, providing consumers with ready-to-go solutions to Authentication, Authorization, Logging, Exception Handling, Asynchronous Workload Scheduling, Data Orchestration, and more.If you'd joined earlier this year, you would have:- Led the design, development, testing, and rollout of a new algorithm to better handle load in our job scheduling engine.- Migrated our our exception handling service and developer tools and frameworks to leverage .NET 6 and C#10.- Built libraries and tooling to revamp the front-end infrastructure of hundreds of applications, enabling faster and more modern practices .- Designed and written health checks for critical services to ensure they are properly configured and initialized before going live. - Answered questions from and pair programed with other development teams who use our core APIs and NuGet packages.- Participated in one of our regular \"Idea Marketplace\" weeks, where engineers take time to explore their own ideas for potential innovations.The ideal candidate is a creative and resourceful technology leader with proven ability to build, motivate, and professionally develop high performing teams of talented software engineers. Even better if they've got experience building common, high-performance, and easy-to-use developer frameworks, APIs, and/or solutions to cross-cutting concerns. If you have these skills and are passionate about empowering developers to build great things, we want to meet you!Position Responsibilities:- Partner closely with product management and tech leads to define the long and short term roadmaps and measurable objectives for the Core Services team- Provide technical leadership to junior team members through mentoring, collaborative troubleshooting, thought partnership, and code review- Establish the efficient and effective operating model needed to deliver the Core Service's team's objectives; build and lead the team to exceptionally high performance and morale- Partner with other managers and tech leads within our Core Platform sub-program to envision and implement a comprehensive set of foundational capabilities (services, APIs, libraries, and frameworks) powering many D&S products- Talent leadership: coach team members to their maximum potential by providing objective and actionable career guidance and opportunities; identify talent gaps; recruit and retain high quality technology talent to fill them- Build morale, celebrate wins, learn from misses- Actively contribute to the ongoing evolution of the Core Platform sub program - best practices, mission, objectives, operating efficiency; a highly valued thought partner for all Core Platform leadershipIdeal Candidate Qualifications:- Passion for technology and the people who build it; the ideal candidate intuitively understands what it means to have an excellent developer experience- Proven ability to build and motivate a high performance software engineering team- An excellent engineering people leader who leads by example with a strong focus on coaching and mentoring; you turn good technical talent into great technical talent- Deep understanding of one or more programming languages/technology stacks- Passion for understanding the ins and outs of the languages/frameworks you work with vs. just using them for the task at hand- Experience having worked on and designed \"common code\PDN-942decfa-4d2f-4393-a839-ba2878d3fce3
