Technical Account Manager

COVID-19 update: Cerberus is fully remote, but our ideal candidate is local and will occasionally be able to attend an in-person company event or meeting (pursuant to CDC guidance). As such, strong preference will be given to candidates within the greater Washington, DC metro area.

Cerberus is a small, agile software company that develops and supports a fantastic secure file sharing product. Every day we're pressing forward with our mission to provide businesses of all sizes with a reliable, secure file transfer solution that just works.

We don't have a traditional inside or outside sales team; our product is technical and thus most sales questions are currently fielded by our rockstar support staff. While this has worked well, it's time to accelerate our growth and make this role dedicated and formal. It's a terrific opportunity for an individual with significant expertise being the technical closer -- and in our case, you'd be the closer for a well-loved software product.

Y ou'll be the first one in this role and will have a chance to craft metrics, process for sales progression, and will have real input into the tools used to improve conversion.

The Responsibilities:

Be the go-to for all things pre-sales, including our initial customer experience, product presentations, demos, technical questions, account management, and responsible escalations for additional technical or operations assistance. Truly geek out on the product.
Create and execute pre-sales process flow from initial customer contact through to full sale (including opportunity management).
Respond to incoming technical inquiries from customers and partners to educate and influence their buying decisions
Contribute to our online content (blogs, FAQs, website) to further clarify our product position and features based on real-life customer needs.
Nurture open pre-sales conversations through to sale by coordinating all requirements, i.e. environment recommendations, quote procurement, technical questions.
Capture loss reasons and provide analysis on how we can improve (via specific product development, pricing initiatives, etc)

The (mostly) Must-Haves:

5+ years of pre-sales engineer or technical sales engineer experience
Knowledge of networking concepts and protocols (ex. FTP, SFTP, telnet, HTTP(S), SSH)
Familiarity with basic programming concepts (ex. loops, variables)
Active Directory and LDAP experience is a plus
General system administration knowledge and experience with Windows Server is a plus
Understanding of FTP and managed file transfer is a plus
Deep experience working across teams as a "hybrid" player (part sales, part support, part whatever else is needed)
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills - you can always articulate the "why" behind your proposals
Natural leadership -- you know how to influence people to get things done across any job function. People love working with you.
A self-starter that can dive deeply into technical details and ask engineers insightful questions. You're great at rolling up your sleeves and getting things done.

The Wish List:

Zendesk and experience with timely, thorough customer interactions
Experience working on a product with international sales (40-50% of our revenue is international)
Experience working in Salesforce, specifically Sales Cloud (opportunity and account management)
Windows system admin experience
