Job Description:

Assists in supervising dietary functions and personnel. Prepares and directs preparation of food served. Assists in tray service and cleaning functions. Keeps records as directed. -JOB QUALIFICATIONS: -Education: High School diploma preferred, but at a minimum the ability towrite and read English. -Experience: Preferred. -Job Knowledge: Ability to prepare and cook a variety of foods in large quantities;aware of special diets, seasoning requirements, cooking times,temperature controls; ability to estimate qualities of food required,limit waste, and utilize leftovers while serving attractive,appetizing meals. -Standards: State Health Department. -Equipment: -PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: -1. Occasionally reaches above shoulder level.2. Frequently works with body bent at waist.3. Occasionally works in kneeling position.4. Occasionally climbs stairs.5. Occasionally climbs ladders.6. Supervises in absence of manager.2. Receives reports on meals to be served for normal and special diets and diet changes.3. Determines amount of food and supplies required for daily menus.4. Uses only approved substitutions.5. Follows special diet orders.6. May carve and apportion food for serving and may assist in serving duties.7. May schedule hours and assign duties in absence of Dietary Service Supervisor.8. Plans food production to coordinate with meal serving hours, so that excellence, quality, temperature, and appearance of food is preserved. -OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS: -1.
