To: Operations Manager Job Summary The Certified/Licensed Addiction
Counselor is responsible for providing specialized, evidence-based
addiction counseling services to adolescents and young adults
within KBECs ILP. This role is designed to support youth
transitioning from foster care to independent living by addressing
substance use challenges and promoting long-term recovery. The
counselor will work closely with an interdisciplinary team to
develop individualized treatment plans that comply with the
administrative guidelines outlined by the DC Child and Family
Services Agency (CFSA AI requirements). Key Responsibilities
Assessment & Treatment Planning: Conduct comprehensive assessments
to determine clients substance use histories and current needs.
Develop, implement, and regularly update individualized treatment
plans that include goals for recovery and relapse prevention in
accordance with DC CFSA ILP guidelines. Counseling & Intervention:
Provide individual and group counseling sessions using
evidence-based techniques such as cognitive-behavioral therapy
(CBT) and motivational interviewing. Deliver crisis intervention
and immediate support services as needed to ensure client safety
and stability. Collaboration & Coordination: Work collaboratively
with social workers, clinical directors, and other ILP staff to
ensure seamless service delivery. Facilitate connections to
community resources, treatment facilities, and support groups that
complement the clients recovery journey. Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain accurate and confidential clinical records in compliance
with DC CFSA standards and licensing requirements. Prepare and
submit regular reports detailing client progress, treatment
outcomes, and program metrics. Program Development & Quality
Assurance: Participate in regular staff meetings, trainings, and
quality improvement initiatives to promote innovative and effective
counseling practices. Contribute to the ongoing development of the
ILP by providing feedback on service delivery and program
operations. Required Qualifications Licensure: Must be certified or
licensed as an Addiction Counselor in Washington, DC. High School
Diploma or Equivalent Experience: Prior experience in addiction
counseling is preferred, with a demonstrated ability to work
effectively with adolescents and young adults facing substance use
challenges. Preferred Skills & Competencies Interpersonal Skills:
Strong communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with
clients, families, and multidisciplinary team members.
Organizational Skills: Detailed oriented with proven recordkeeping
and reporting capabilities that adhere to regulatory requirements.
Team Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively in an
interdisciplinary environment and contribute to a holistic approach
to youth development.
