Minimum Education
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (Required)
Minimum Work Experience
5 years nursing experience with a minimum of two (2) years' recent
pediatric experience in a CVICU or comparable ICU setting, and a
minimum of one (1) year of demonstrated nursing leadership
experience. for example as a charge nurse, educator, preceptor,
council chair/member or comparable jobs (Required)
Required Skills/Knowledge
Successfully completes the hospital and nursing orientation at
CNMC.
Knowledge of pediatric healthcare standards with related clinical
skill competency.
Strong knowledge of JC and other regulatory agency
requirements.
Demonstrated leadership and management skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proven capacity to make critical clinical decisions when
appropriate
Required Licenses and Certifications
Registered Nurse (Required) Or
Registered Nurse licensure in the state of practice or supervision

Functional Accountabilities
Professional Practice/Research
- Participate in/support Shared Nursing Leadership.

relationships, processes, and outcomes for patients/families.
- Engage opportunities to act in the best interest of the
patient/family, building trust and confidence, while upholding
moral and legal standards of due care.
- Coordinate mechanisms across systems, institutions, and
community to provide continuity of care for wellness needs or
health concerns.
- Direct and participate in the development of patient care
policies and protocols in order to advise and guide practice.

Job Specific Responsibilities
- Responds to routine, urgent, and emergent patient issues at CNH
Critical Care bedside. Provides follow-up to ensure problem
resolution.
- Collects and analyses patient data from remote monitoring and
multiple data sources from patients in the CICU at Children's
National Hospital, and others in remote institutions nationally or
internationally, as directed by Command Center leadership.
- Communicates with the members of the Command Center and bedside
CICU teams to provide safe error-free care during routine and
emergent conditions.
- Communicates to the healthcare team and documents patient
physiologic health status, concerning trends as appropriate.
- Demonstrate thorough knowledge of the program's identified top
10 triage/ symptom guidelines and uses available decision support
tools in determining evidence-based practices for clinical
problems.
- Collaborates with bedside teams to solve clinical patient
problems using virtual monitoring and AI tools. Communicates
unresolved issues to medical staff or CICU nurse as
appropriate.
- Applies existing basic and advanced features in the Command
Center, including AI algorithms in use to enhance assessment and
documentation during the virtual surveillance activities.
- Participates in expanding the command center care model to
other inpatient, ambulatory, and emergency room care models and
enhancing AI tools.
- Achieve telehealth and other applicable national
certifications.
