Position Summary
Horizon is currently seeking an immunologist to become an integral part of a dynamic and efficient team that drives novel drug development in autoimmunity, inflammation, and rare diseases. This person will support and lead ongoing programs; furthermore, will have the opportunity to explore novel mechanisms of disease pathobiology. They will interact with internal and external stakeholders with the goal of delivering successful programs into the clinic.
Responsibilities

  • Lead development of early-stage pre-clinical program(s) including target discovery, lead generation and lead optimization efforts
  • Design, develop and execute immunoassays with cell lines and primary cells with hands-on involvement in the laboratory
  • Design and execute pre-clinical in vivo studies to support program development
  • Interact with key external stakeholders such as academic collaborators and support collaboration research programs
  • Generate and analyze experimental data; troubleshoot efficiently, prepare written reports and impactful presentations
  • Train other scientists in the lab and clearly communicate scientific concepts
  • Engage with CROs and be responsible for deliverables in a timely manner
  • Work efficiently as part of a multifaceted team and collaborate with other functions such as translational sciences, clinical development, and business development
  • Present scientific data in internal and external meetings
    Qualifications and Skills Required
    • PhD in immunology or related field with 3+ years of postdoctoral or industry experience
    • Previous biotechnology or industry experience is desirable
    • Deep understanding of human immunology is required, expertise in single cell/nuclei RNA sequencing, and/or immunometabolism is a plus
    • Experience in multi-color flow cytometry, tissue culture techniques, molecular techniques, MSD/ELISA, and immunohistochemistry is desirable
    • Perform lab work independently
    • Excellent organizational and record keeping skills
