POSITION SUMMARY The Lead Scribes assist the Scribe Manager in day-to-day operations of the Scribe department including staffing, training, and scheduling. The Lead Scribe specific duties are performed in addition to work as a scribe assisting a physician in documentation. PRIMARY FUNCTIONS & ACCOUNTABILITIES Lead the scribe department in conjunction with the Scribe Manager. Perform Scribe job duties and act as a resource for team members and/or providers in clinic. Quick, accurate documentation of history of present illness, physical exam, imaging reports, impression/plan. Train newly hired scribes with supervision of hands-on clinic experience. Respond immediately to urgent needs within the Scribe department. Assist in managing team member schedules. Coordinate staffing with the Scribe Manager in the event a team member will be absent or late for work. Offer input for annual performance evaluations in conjunction with the Scribe Manager. Organize and assist with leading department meetings in conjunction with the Scribe Manager. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Ability to work as a team with other Lead Scribes and Scribe Manager Knowledge in general medical terminology, conditions, and interactions. Strong organizational skills with ability to multi-task and work at a fast pace. Effectively able to establish and maintain professional working relationships with providers, administration and other team members. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to demonstrate effective leadership qualities that will bring the best out of team members in the scribe department. JOB REQUIREMENTS Experience/Education/Certifications Bachelor's degree required Past scribing experience required Some knowledge of insurance coding compliance guidelines preferred EPIC EMR knowledge preferred Employment Type: Full Time
