The University of Maryland Institute for Health Computing (UM-IHC)
is a $70M initiative in North Bethesda funded by Montgomery County
and the University of Maryland Strategic Partnership: MPowering the
State. The UM-IHC aims to build a learning health system for the
State of Maryland that leverages advanced computation and medical
innovation to advance health equity and improve quality of life
state-wide. At the IHC, scientists from across two University of
Maryland campuses and a statewide health system collaborate with
industry, commercialize health care technologies, and develop &
test health care interventions to simultaneously improve health
outcomes and contribute to Maryland's economy.
THIS POSITION IS PHYSICALLY LOCATED IN NORTH BETHESDA,
MARYLAND.Position Overview:
The Director of Finance and Administration serves as a leader
responsible for administering the financial, administrative, and
operational functions of the UM-IHC. This role ensures the
alignment of financial and operational strategies with
institutional goals through financial management and effective
leadership of administrative staff. The Director provides financial
stewardship, oversees business operations, ensures compliance with
internal controls, and supports strategic planning to promote
institutional success. This role requires a combination of hands-on
financial management and high-level administrative oversight.
Working with a small staff, the Director will be required to
perform many of the tasks in the jobs (particularly financial
functions), with some opportunity to delegate.

Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management
Education: Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance,
accounting, public administration, or a related field. Master's
degree preferred.
Experience: Seven (7) years spent progressively building a
background in financial and business operations including HR,
finance, facilities, and/or research administration.
Supervisory Experience: Five (5) years of direct management
experience including recruitment, supervision, and professional
development of staff.
Other: Annual financial disclosure required by Maryland State
law.

experience and formal education in which one has gained the
knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of
the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or
experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30
undergraduate college credits being equivalent to one year of
related experience. In instances where specific education and/or
experience is required only directly related education and/or
