and 2021! Come join our team!Job Responsibilities:The Manager of
Federal Affairs is responsible for lobbying federal agencies on
behalf of the ADA, through both written communications and
in-person meetings with agency staff at all levels. The manager
also assists with the development and delivery of the ADA's
legislative and regulatory priorities in Congress, through written
testimony, letters and other communications. These activities
require a close working relationship with ADA leadership and
frequent independent decision-making.Must Have:
- Bachelor's degree or experience in lieu of degree
- 5 years experience (or 9 years in lieu of a degree) advocating
for organizational policy positions, particularly within health
care, legislative, or regulatory settings, including engagement
with federal agencies (e.g., CMS, HHS, VHA) and responding to
proposed rules and influencing regulatory outcomes
- Experience with direct involvement in legislative analysis,
development, or advocacy, including drafting comments or policy
recommendations for Congress, and representing an organization in
coalitions, policy meetings, or workgroups to advance shared
legislative or regulatory priorities
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects or policy initiatives,
leading strategic efforts in collaboration with internal and
external stakeholders
- Knowledge of federal legislative and regulatory processes,
including Congressional and federal agency operations
- Knowledge of health care policy, with a particular focus on
oral health, dental workforce, and access to care
- Policy analysis and development, including drafting and
presenting comments on letters, and other communications to
legislative or regulatory bodies
- Understanding of HIPAA and Health Information Technology as
they relate to oral health and broader healthcare systemsExcellent
written and verbal communication skills, including crafting
compelling messages for policymakers, stakeholders, and
leadership.Strong analytical, collaboration, and presentation
abilities.Effective negotiation and interpersonal skills to
navigate complex political environments and sensitive issues.Proven
ability to build and maintain relationships with congressional
staff and members to advance policy objectives.Self-starter with a
results-focused approach and the ability to prioritize and think
strategically.

- Travel twice per yearPosition may require before or after hours
work, may require weekend work, and may require more than the
standard number of hours of work within a workweek.Nice to Have:
- Advanced degree (e.g., D.D.S., D.M.D., J.D., M.P.H., or related
field)
- Existing relationships with federal agencies or Congressional
staff
- Certified Association Executive (CAE) or Project Management
