We have an immediate opportunity for a Vice President, Federal Business Development, reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and serving as a member of SRI's executive leadership team. This position, based out of our Arlington, VA office, will lead a team of 12 that provides our research divisions with full-service business development support, including customer relationship management, market and competitor intel, qualified opportunities and capture support. The executive in this position will enable SRI to strengthen our existing relationships with our government customers across civilian, defense and intel R&D agencies, and build and nurture new relationships that will help SRI accelerate our growth at this exciting moment in our history.













Responsibilities









Strategy

  • Create and execute federal business development (FBD) strategies aimed at building relationships and accelerating growth
  • Partner with senior leaders to develop new growth areas
  • Establish organizational objectives, plans and budgets to deliver on strategy Leadership
    • Collaborative leadership approach with ability to build consensus across diverse set of stakeholders.
    • Provide thought leadership and partnership to senior executives on FBD activities including market trends and shifts, and competitor activities to support business decisions
    • Lead and develop a high-performing FBD team overseeing performance, professional growth, and effectiveness of team Business Development
      • Lead, create and deliver a pipeline of opportunities for all SRI's R&D capabilities, technology areas and laboratories
      • Represent SRI's overall research capabilities at relevant industry and government meetings and conferences and provide feedback on markets and opportunities
      • Maintain and grow current customer programs; identify and deliver new areas for business growth; ensure market and business portfolio diversity Relationship Management
        • Actively develop and manage relationships with external customers, partners, and internal SRI teams to cultivate and deliver new federal opportunities
        • Build and maintain client and partner relationships and leverage those relationships to secure new business
        • Manage client engagement with Program Managers, Senior Leaders, and collaborators as well as support SRI Principal Investigator visits Operations
          • Manage customer relationship database and track overall business development metrics
          • Track and manage team's financial performance to meet plan
          • Partner with SRI's learning organization to develop and provide business development training for researchers













            Qualifications









            • BA/BS in business, marketing or related science or technology discipline. Advanced degree strongly preferred
            • Minimum of 15 years of experience in federally funded R&D business development; R&D program management a plus
            • 7+ years leading a successful and diverse business development team
            • U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance required. Active security clearance preferred
            • Demonstrated track record of success winning government business and experience building strategies, managing pipelines, and forecasting
            • Extensive understanding of Federal R&D markets, opportunities, and contracting requirements; possesses well-established network of business relationships within the federal government The salary range is: $200,124 - $300,000. Salary ranges will vary and are based on several factors, including geographic location, market competitiveness and equity amongst internal employees in similar roles. Positions may also qualify for SRI's Pay for Outstanding Performance program or the annual Performance Based Compensation program.
