What started as a small group of families gathered around a
kitchen table in 1979 has blossomed into the nation's leading voice
on mental health. The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) is
the nation's largest grassroots mental health organization
dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans
affected by mental illness.Today, we are an alliance of hundreds of
local affiliates, state organizations and a national office who
work in communities across the United States to raise awareness and
provide support and education that was not previously available to
those in need. NAMI advocates for all who are affected by mental
illness, both the individuals and the people in their lives. In
particular, we work to address disparities and injustices and to
promote dignity and inclusion for all people with mental illness
and their families. In addition to being advocates, we educate, we
listen, and we lead as evidenced by our public awareness campaigns,
the range of numerous programs we provide, and our strong public
policy.We currently have an opening for a National Director,
Operations. The National Director of Operations is responsible for
managing the hands-on operational aspects of the NAMI Operations
Team, assisting the Chief Operating Officer in the aggressive and
successful growth of NAMI. The National Director provides the
leadership, management, and vision necessary to ensure NAMI has the
proper planning, automation, support, and analytics capabilities to
grow the organization and to ensure operating efficiency and
effectiveness.This full-time position can be either remote or based
in our Arlington, VA offices on a hybrid basis. Must be able to
able to come into the office on an as needed basis.Salary Range:
$130,000 - $135,000ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist the Chief Operating Officer in developing and
implementing company-wide performance goals and long-term
operational plans.
- Oversee the NSONA success, project management, IT, and data
analysis teams.
- Manage and assist in the development of the tools, information,
and processes used in daily business to maximize organizational
impact.
- Ensure that internal systems and processes are aligned with
field needs and oversee development and delivery of technical
support to the field.
- Develop, implement, and monitor day-to-day operational systems
and processes to provide visibility into the goals, progress, and
obstacles of key initiatives.
- Maximize efficiency and productivity through extensive process
analysis, process automation, and interdepartmental
collaboration.
- Lead strategic initiatives to improve scalability, agility, and
efficiency.
- Analyze current operational processes and performance,
recommending and implementing solutions for improvement where
necessary.
- Streamline and implement structures and systems that boost
speed and efficiency while supporting rapidly shifting business
demands.
- Prepare budgets, analysis, and other organizational reports as
needed.
- Oversee the budget and personnel decisions for the NAMI
Operations team.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- 11 - 15 years of professional experience including 4-6 years in
a senior management role or operations management role.
- Exhibit strong leadership skills including: coaching,
instilling commitment to quality and excellence, encouraging
collaboration and diversity and inclusion efforts, promoting the
flow of information, and providing clear direction on how to meet
goals and perform to company standards.
- Proven track record of ability to effectively drive change and
deliver excellent results.
- Excellent management and organizational skills.
- Exceptional written/verbal communication & presentation
skills.
- Strong analytical, project management and problem-solving
skills.
- Ability to lead and work in cross-departmental teams.
- Ability to effectively address and resolve conflict within and
across teams.
- Experience in nonprofit or business management
- Ability to work within a fast paced, quickly evolving
organization and to manage multiple complex and interdependent
priorities. Project management skills and ability to prioritize
issues strategically and organize time effectively.
- Working knowledge of data analysis and performance/operation
metrics
- Familiarity with MS Office and various business software (e.g.,
CRM, CMS)
- Willingness to travel, as needed.
