lives of others.Eckerd Connects' Girls Short-Term Juvenile Justice
Residential Program is a gender responsive, complete rehabilitative
experience delivered in 4 to 6 months for girls ages 13-17. This
20-bed program is for girls who are referred by the North Carolina
Department of Public Safety Division of Juvenile Justice and
Delinquency Prevention (DJJ). During the 4-6 month stay, the
program assists young women in learning the skills and tools needed
to successfully re-integrate with their families, and back into
their communities. This residential treatment concept combines
promising and evidence-based practices with a strong family
transition component and signifies a public-private partnership
with the Division of Juvenile Justice which has produced an
innovative shift in the way youth are served in North Carolina's
juvenile justice system. Intensive, short-term services include
individualized treatment and academic plans that combine formal and
experiential education, community service, behavioral health, and
family counseling in a non-punitive environment designed to address
the youth's behavioral challenges through a strength-based
approach. Youth also receive accredited educational services
on-site and work together in small group settings with assigned

ConceptProvide Case Management services and ongoing communication,
evaluations, and assessments to youth, families, and Juvenile
Probation Officers under the direct clinical supervision of a
licensed mental health professional.Essential FunctionsComplete or
arrange for all required mental health and substance abuse
screenings and assessments.Complete performance summaries,
treatment plan reviews, aftercare/transition plans, and discharge
summaries.Assist Medicaid Clerk or other staff in post release data
collection as required by Eckerd policy and contractual
obligations.Serve as liaison between the program, the Department of
Juvenile Justice, other outside agencies, and the youth's
family.Provide case management duties, preparing families for
program visits, home leave experiences, family/group conferences,
and aftercare responsibilities.Network family members to available
community resources.Collaborate with leadership and performance
improvement activities by conducting periodic reviews to ensure
compliance with Eckerd policy and agency requirements.Other Duties
Include, But Not Limited ToMaintain a high standard of role model
behavior for youth.Participate in training and development
activities as required.Report any acts, incidents or conditions
that reflect the possibility of inappropriate youth-to-youth or
staff-to-youth relationships.Report any use of physical force and
all unusual incidents per Eckerd and DJJ guidelines.Perform other
duties as assigned or needed.Position SpecificationsEducation: A
bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in the
field of counseling, social work, psychology, rehabilitation,
special education, or in a related human services field.Experience:
Two years' experience working with children with serious emotional
disturbances or substance abuse problems. If the candidate has a
master's degree in an appropriate field, the experience requirement
is preferred, but not required. Experience in a Medicaid provider
environment is helpful. Experience with group work techniques is a
plus.Skills: A sound understanding of group leadership, group
dynamics, and experiential education. Records management and
Medicaid processes preferred. Advanced oral and written
communication skills.Other: Must maintain an appropriate and valid
state driver's license. Must meet state criminal background check
requirements.Physical Demands: Must be in good physical health and
emotionally stable. Must be able to move about the property. Must
be able to participate in youth activities. Must be able to
transport youth or staff. Must be free of communicable diseases as
defined by the state and to the extent that data is attainable
under the law. Must be able to pass PAR evaluation of physical
