VDC Engineer

Job Description:
JMA's projects are fast-paced and challenging and allow our team
members to grow into their roles to meet the varied requirements of
construction within close-knit project teams. As a VDC Engineer,
you will assist project teams through the design, coordination, and
installation of MEP systems. You will engage directly with JMA
staff members throughout all facets of the organization as well our
subcontractor partners, design professionals, and clients. Your
work days will primarily be spent in the JMA home office, however,
frequent jobsite visits will be necessary. Responsibilities
include:
- Participate in MEP design assist exercises
- Perform in-depth plan reviews to identify conflicts
- Develop and implement BIM Execution Plans
- Create and modify Revit models as required to fill in model
scope gaps
- Run "Clash Detection", organize clashes, and lead
subcontractors through clash resolution
- Lead meetings to explain and resolve conflicts
- Work closely with subcontractors to push coordination schedule
and ensure deadlines are met
- Produce models for logistics and phasing plans
- Assist in the development and implementation of BIM
coordination best practices
- Train colleagues on BIM coordination best practices
- Stay up to date on new VDC related software, services, and
hardwareRequirements
- Experience working in the AEC industry
- Onsite construction experience
- Experience reading construction documents
- Ability to work closely with a variety of personality
types
- Manage competing priorities in a deadline driven work
environment
- Proficient with Microsoft Windows and Office
- Strong organizational skills
- Analytical mindset with high attention to detail
- Ability to quickly learn new software programs and
interfacesPreferred Attributes:
- General contracting experience
- Experience in Navisworks, Revit, AutoCAD, Sketchup or
similar
- Strong knowledge of MEP systems and relevant building
codes
- Knowledge of reality capture tools and construction software
packages
