Local Unit & Position DescriptionDo you want to be part of an

customers' expectations? DNV is growing our new Strategy Team
within the Energy Systems' group and is looking to add a Senior
Consulting Engineer with experience advising on and supporting
issues related to power systems, electrification impact assessment,
and distribution planning/distributed resource integration. This
role will be responsible for supporting and leading business
development and project management efforts on strategic issues in
the energy transition including grid modernization,
decarbonization, use of renewable fuels, non-wires alternatives,
distributed energy resources, distribution planning, electric
vehicles, and electrification. This is a great opportunity for
someone with technical experience in power system planning or
utility operations seeking a role involving strategic and big
picture thinking, collaboration, and an interdisciplinary approach
to supporting the energy transition.DNV is seeking the best
candidate for this position and the position may be based out of
any of DNV's continental U.S. offices. A remote location will be
considered for the right candidate.What you'll do
- Support project-based teams in the delivery of strategic
research studies and analyses by serving as the project manager or
project sponsor and/or providing support as a subject matter
expert. This can include client interaction, development of
proposals or work plans, leadership of project teams or tasks, and
preparation of deliverables and presentation of results
- Work closely with DNV's Director of Strategy to develop,
refine, and fulfill the team's objective of providing consulting
services which enable clients to meet their decarbonization and
grid modernization goals. Identify areas of growth in this space
and develop service offerings
- Provide insights and lead and/or support research and analysis
focused on grid modernization including distributed resource
planning, resource potential analyses, utility planning processes,
best practice reviews and strategy plans, adoption forecasting and
local system impacts, resiliency and reliability
- Collaborate with DNV staff on other teams in North America and
globally (Digitalization & Analytics, Power System Advisory,
Storage and Grid Edge, and Renewables Advisory) to identify
opportunities for collaboration and innovation and develop creative
approaches to customer problems.
- Interpret customers' problems to be solved and questions to be
addressed and convert into value-added opportunities
- Create resources and tools to support grid modernization
services
- Operate with a teamwork mentality that leads to building and
maintaining interpersonal relationships, providing guidance to
researchers and consultants and collaborating with other project
managers and team members to share knowledge and best
practices
- Ensure all work products are high quality, effective, and
timely; effectively utilize analysts and consultants at DNV to
effectively ensure high standards of accuracy
- Act as a public spokesperson for DNV representing the
organization at conferences and other public speaking
venuesPosition QualificationsWhat is RequiredNote: Please submit a
cover letter with your resume that details your specific knowledge
in the areas of grid modernization such as DERs or distribution
planning and interest in a role focused on strategic planning in
these areas -
- Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree or emphasis in a
relevant discipline (Such as Engineering, Mathematics, Physics,
Business, Environmental and Energy Policy) preferred
- Minimum 7 years of experience in the energy industry,
specifically in energy markets or grid modernization -
- Understanding of DERs, grid modernization fundamentals and
strategies, and distribution planning and/or operation
- Experience in a consulting environment preferred
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team and have a
positive, team-oriented attitude and professional demeanor
- Demonstrated curiosity and desire to continue learning and
evolving with the market. An understanding of trends in
decarbonization and grid modernization developments, policies, and
markets.
- Willingness to undertake new and exciting activities and think
creatively to find a solution to a problem.
- An interest in using data and research to tell a story
- Motivation for sourcing and/or successfully steering efforts to
obtain new business
- Accustomed to multi-tasking and working under tight deadlines
in a dynamic environment
- Ability to effectively lead, motivate and coach people in
varying disciplines to achieve improved overall performance
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills;
comfortable communicating with team members with different cultural
backgrounds and experience
- Proven ability to manage tasks to quality, budget, and deadline
targets

Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors
