The Business Intelligence Solutions group within the Global Data
and Business Intelligence (GDBI) organization works with internal
stakeholders to enable faster decision-making, data democratization
and self-service through building innovative, scalable
best-in-class dashboard and reporting solutions. Our goal is to
empower and enable business partners to glean valuable insights
from Visa's unique global data assets.
In this role, you will be part of GBO (Global Business
Optimization) function in building and maintaining global data
assets and engineering solutions. We are looking expertise in data
warehousing and building large-scale data processing systems by
using the latest database technologies. The Data Engineer will take
ownership of building and running data pipelines, crafting our
local data warehouse and data frameworks, and catering for
different data presentation techniques.
Responsibilities
As a Sr. Data Engineer, you will establish data processes, data
solutions, and automations, based on business and technical
requirements by leveraging Visa supported big data technologies and
third-party tools.
* Should have strong problem-solving capabilities and ability to
quickly propose feasible solutions and optimally communicate
strategy and risk mitigation approaches to leadership.
* Extract, manipulate large datasets and build ETL pipelines in
Spark, Python, Presto, HIVE or SAS that process transactions and
standardize data fields across various data sources
* Build and maintain robust ETL processes, including data quality
and testing aligned across technology, internal reporting and other
functional teams
* Utilize Visa's data analytics capabilities, technology, and
industry expertise to develop, standardized and implement BI data
sets.
* Find opportunities to create, automate repeatable financial and
statistical analyses or build streamlined data flows for business
owners.
* Develop solutions within an agile development process leveraging
Visa's single source of truth (SSoT) framework.
* Participate in business requirements gathering, effort sizing,
and architecture planning
* Provide operational production support.
* Communicate complex concepts and the results of the analyses in a
clear and effective manner.
This position is open to locations in Denver, CO, Arlington, VA and
Miami, FL.
This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time
between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are
expected to work from the office two days a week, Tuesdays and
Wednesdays with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% of
the time based on business needs.
Basic Qualifications
* 4-6+ yrs. Work experience with a Bachelor's Degree or 3+ years of
work experience with a Master's or Advanced Degree in an analytical
field such as computer science, statistics, finance, economics or
relevant area.
Preferred Qualifications
* 8-10+ yrs. Work experience with a Bachelor's Degree or 4+ years
of work experience with a Master's or Advanced Degree in an
analytical field such as Computer Science, Statistics, Finance,
Economics or relevant area.
Technical skills:
* Strong experience in Big Data/Hadoop Environment creating large
scale data engineering pipelines, data-based decision-making, and
quantitative analysis
* Strong experience in writing and optimizing efficient SQL queries
with Python, Hive, Scala handling Large Data Sets in Big-Data
Environments
* Experience with sophisticated, high volume, multifaceted data, as
well as machine learning models based on unstructured, structured,
and streaming datasets
* Experience creating/supporting production software/systems and a
proven track record of identifying and resolving performance
bottlenecks for production systems
* Experience with Unix/Shell or Python scripting and exposure to
Scheduling tools like Oozie and Airflow
* Exposure to stream-processing systems like Apache Storm,
Spark-Streaming
* Proven understanding of Hadoop ecosystem and associated
technologies, (For e.g. Apache Spark, MLlib, GraphX, iPython,
sci-kit,Pandas etc.)
* Experience with visualization software (e.g.
Tableau/MicroStrategy) is a plus.
* Visa experience or knowledge of payments industry is a plus, but
not mandatory.
This position has a minimum base salary of $115,700 and a midpoint
base salary of $150,000. The base pay may vary depending on
job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, this
position is eligible for annual bonus and equity.

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.
Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the
time.
Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an
office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and
stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently
operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and
computers.
