Senior Director Product Design, Premium Products and Travel
We’re currently seeking a Product Design Senior Director to join
our Premium Design Team, which is part of the Experience Design
organization. The Premium Design team defines the gold standard for
Capital One’s high-spender customer ecosystem, crafting
personalized, high-stakes experiences that integrate seamlessly
into our customers' lives. We are seeking a visionary Design Leader
to oversee our Travel and Premium Products portfolio, directing the
design teams behind both Capital One Travel and the Velocity
Black-powered Concierge products. Since its launch in 2021, Capital
One Travel has been on a trajectory of monumental growth and aims
for a bold vision to grow into one of the largest OTAs. Velocity
Black is a premium lifestyle digital concierge service that
delivers exclusive travel, entertainment, shopping and dining
offerings to consumers globally allowing Capital One to continue an
expansion of offerings at the top of the market. As the leader of
this portfolio, you will set the design direction that propels both
of these experiences into their next frontier, delivering
full-scale, industry-leading lifestyle products. In this role, you
will lead the teams responsible for the end-to-end consumer and
agent-facing experiences for both Capital One Travel and Concierge
experiences. Your success will depend on your ability to balance an
elite customer experience with the development of rigorous
standards that ensure a cohesive journey across the entire
lifestyle space. By staying ahead of business, design, and
technology trends, you will guide your team in refining long-range
product strategies and unlocking the innovation necessary to win in
this space. Ultimately, you will own the entire design lifecycle
across various touchpoints, finding leverage within complex systems
and championing a customer-first philosophy. You will be held
accountable for overarching results, ensuring that every
interaction within our travel and concierge ecosystem is as

hear from you. Role Expectations As a Product Design Senior
Director on the Premium design team, you’ll leverage your
exceptional design skills to lead or drive the resolution of
large-scope design issues that inform the higher-level vision of
the organization and align to business objectives. You’ll
collaborate deeply with our research teams and Product and Tech
leadership and apply your expertise to reimagining and raising the
design quality bar across Capital One. Here are some of the
expected competencies for this role: Product Design Expertise:
Leverage established expertise and leadership in product design to
elevate the quality and maturity of the design practice at Capital
One. Leveraging a variety of skills across interaction, visual and
service design; in collaboration with cross-functional partners,
help to oversee and optimize the use of appropriate tools,
platforms, frameworks and design systems and develop artifacts that
may include vision stories, journey maps, blueprints, high-fidelity
designs and prototypes Mentorship: Set the standards for craft
skills across Capital One by leading, mentoring and consulting with
others, providing expertise that enables work to move forward
efficiently and lead highly complex, large-scale design projects,
directing the work of junior designers Strategic Influence: Shape
product direction and outcomes by leveraging deep product design
expertise, user insights, and an understanding of the business.
Drive alignment with cross functional executive leaders, ensuring
user needs are central to our overall strategy and enabling bold,
innovative solutions to complex problems. Human-Centered: Recognize
and pursue opportunities where customer needs and business goals
coincide, while reinforcing with teammates and partners the

accelerate delivery and elevate the value of design Communication:
Present work to executive leaders and stakeholders, modeling a
strategic human-centered approach that integrates design
frameworks, data and research insights to make the complex
accessible, influence change and drive strategic direction The
ideal candidate has a strong portfolio demonstrating your
leadership, process, results and impact. Basic Qualifications: At
least 10 years of experience in a product design role delivering
products to market Preferred Qualifications: At least 12 years of
experience in a product design role delivering products to market
Experience in a design toolkit that spans product design, service
design, design strategy and content design Deep experience shaping
scope and opportunities in partnership with executive stakeholders
and leading high-impact, highly complex projects that set the bar
for and drive experience excellence Deep experience partnering with
product managers, engineers, marketing, and analytics leaders
across multiple business lines to shape strategy, OKRs, roadmaps
and operating models Deep experience interfacing with executive
leadership to solve problems, influence key decisions, and drive
results across strategy, design, roadmaps and investments
Experience working within a design system Proficiency with web and
mobile technologies and platforms, navigating technology
considerations and constraints to drive sound product and
experience decisions Expertise with design and prototyping tools
such as Figma Proficiency in business case development, tying
product and user experience decisions to business value Exceptional
written and verbal communication skills Exceptional interpersonal
skills and relationship building across complex organizations

Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed
upon number of hours to be regularly worked. McLean, VA: $269,600 -
$307,700 for Sr. Director, Design New York, NY: $294,100 - $335,700
for Sr. Director, Design Candidates hired to work in other
locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that
location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any
candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the
candidate’s offer letter. This role is also eligible to earn
performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash
bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be
discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan. Capital
