Job Description:
The Crew Leader is responsible for supervising, managing, and
working with full-time and part-time staff to install, operate, and
take down the Bull Run Festival of Lights. They are responsible for
repairing, refurbishing, and maintaining all Festival of Lights
displays and equipment and fabricating new displays. Work is
performed under the general direction of the Special Events
Manager. Annual performance goals will be set for the Crew
Leader.Hiring Salary Range: $43,678.59 - $50,203.12 ESSENTIAL
FUNCTIONS (with illustrative examples of work) Maintain Festival of
Lights displays and equipment: Perform basic electrical and wiring
tasks including converting and/or refurbishing light show displays.
Perform minor welding repairs on wire frame displays. Perform basic
animation programming. Order, organize, and maintain inventory of
supplies. Assess condition of displays and equipment; make
recommendations for repair or replacement. Revise and update show
manuals and documents for installation, operation, and take down.
Design and fabricate new displays as directed. Assist in execution
of light show management plan. Direct Festival of Lights
installation and take down: Organize, supervise, and manage
full-time and part-time staff to ensure efficient and safe
installation and take down of displays and features. Operate man
lifts and forklifts during installation and take down. Test,
troubleshoot, and repair displays during installation. Ensure
displays and features are organized and in good condition during
take down. Assist with Festival of Lights operation: Turn on and
turn off show during operating season. Troubleshoot and repair
displays and features during operating season. Research and attend
appropriate trainings, conferences, or related classes. Perform
routine inspections and troubleshooting on all outdoor equipment.
Perform Miscellaneous Maintenance Tasks: Perform administrative
duties including processing of receipts and invoices, obtaining
estimates, and maintaining Hiperweb maintenance log. Clean and
organize storage areas and work area, dispose of debris, and
perform other work area housekeeping duties. Assist with other jobs
associated with special projects. Research and recommend show
improvements and additions. Run errands to deliver or pick up
materials. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS (minimum) Education: Graduation
from high school. Physical: Manual work with strength and dexterity
necessary to perform all required tasks, including lifting,
stooping, bending, and working in tiring and uncomfortable
positions in outdoor and maintenance shop settings; and will
perform heavy manual labor in all weather conditions, lift and move
items equal to or greater than 80 pounds, climb ladders, use
various hand tools, and operate various mechanical equipment.
Experience: Two years' experience in park maintenance work, with
mechanical and electrical aptitude, or any equivalent combination
of education, training, or experience which provides: Working
knowledge of the methods and materials used in conjunction with an
annual special event. Working knowledge of electrical systems and
temporary electrical distribution set ups with ability to make
repairs and provide safe operation of displays and distribution
equipment. Ability to perform routine maintenance and make minor
repairs on equipment. Working knowledge of the safe and proper use
of park maintenance equipment and tools. Ability to supervise
full-time, part-time, and seasonal staff. Possession of or ability
to obtain and maintain driver’s license with safe driving record.
Night, weekend, and shift work is required during Festival of
Lights operating season (mid-November through early January).
Availability for call in emergency situations and to work
additional hours during peak operating season. Regular and
predictable attendance is an essential function of the position.
Working knowledge and experience in utilizing Microsoft office
suite tools such as Word, Excel, Teams. Duties and responsibilities
