Forensic Nurse Examiner - Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner - Level 1 Trauma CenterInova's Level 1 Trauma center is looking for a dedicated Forensic Nurse Examiner to join the team. The Ewing Forensic Assessment and Consultation Teams (FACT) Program forensic nurse examiner (FNE) is a sexual assault nurse examiner (SANE) responsible for responding to requests for forensic medical examinations of the alleged sexually assaulted/ physically abused patient and/or suspect evidence collection. Requires travel to other jurisdictions/ facilities as warranted including other medical facilities, courts and detention center environments.* The FNE's objective is to provide knowledgeable and caring clinical practice and care coordination through an understanding of patient, family, nurse, and healthcare delivery teams.* The FNE must consistently provide safe, therapeutic care in a holistic and systematic way while incorporating differences into the provision of care. Conducts all patient care in a patient and family-centered manner. Integrates knowledge, skills, and experiences to meet the needs of patients and families throughout the continuum, to include patient and family education.* The FNE communicates effectively and works cooperatively with others. Has respect for and understanding of other clinical disciplines. Uses an integrated approach toward patient outcomes.* Quality and Best Practice- Serves as an empowering body to influence patient empowerment, and successful outcomes of financial and clinical quality, through relationships and access-based knowledge. Utilizes standards, guidelines, and pathways for care delivery. Demonstrates leadership skills in decision making and problem solving.*will consider RNs without prior SANE experience that are willing to complete online certification courses prior to orientation.Requirements:* Requires a minimum of 6 months of Registered Nurse clinical experience. Prefer prior experience and SANE program completion (adults and/or pediatric)* Education: BSN from an accredited school of nursing. If RN has an Associates Degree (ADN); must complete BSN within 24 months of start date.* RN licensed, or eligible to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia as an RN.* BLS from AHA for Healthcare Provider certification required* Strong verbal and written communication skills.* Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to display a caring demeanor toward others. Proficient computer skills required*. **This is a Full Time, night shift position with rotating holiday and weekend shifts, and minimal call.
